Fearless Like a Fruit Fly

I love summer, I’ve always loved summer. I don’t love fruit flies. For the past three or so years I’ve noticed they have increased in number and in fortitude. I can hide my fruits in a refrigerated vault with a padlock and they will still find me. How do they know I’m coming for them, it seems I can just have the thought ‘I have to get this one’ even before I lift a hand they will “know” that I’m swooping down for a landing on them. That may be a bit of an exaggeration, I don’t think they have ESP, but seriously — what gives them this superpower? It’s not a brain or eyes or anything we can see on an infinitesimally small fruit fly. Where does this power to survive come from?

It must be an invisible force…right?

It’s nothing we can see with the human eye.

Is it invisible sound waves that alert them? Maybe the hand moving through space causes energy currents. Who or what designed a fruit fly, anyway?

If we knew that answer, I believe we could end world hunger, wars, and viruses in one discovery about what makes a fruit fly so amazingly fearless, confident, and determined to survive.

It must be built into the design of a fruit fly. What if we are designed to draw on this same formless energy?

I must admit, I’ve noticed that when I depend more on the formless energy of Mind rather than brain matter, I’ve gotten better results in all aspects of my life…. Hmmm, might that mean that the energy that powers the brain has been largely untapped? I think Albert Einstein said something about the fact that humans utilize only a small part of the brain — could he have meant the part that powers the brain is underutilized?

I think there have been many in our human history who stumbled upon this power — answers that came to people in their dreams (Howe, the inventor of the sewing machine, comes to mind) When I watched the movie, Cosmos, I was amazed at how many huge discoveries were the result of, so-called accidents, or childlike curiosity.

Many (if not all) of these discoveries were not only poo-pooed by society at first, but the person making the discovery was often locked up or burned on a stake. Hmmm…. This is getting even more interesting now, as I reflect on our little fruit flies’ formidable forbearance behaving like a drone operated by some invisible force.

Is there something we can learn from the mysterious behavior of a fruit fly?
